Donor Privacy Policy

Our commitment never to sell, rent, trade, or share a donor's name or contact information, the only two exceptions to it, and how to control what we hold about you.

Our promise to you

We will never sell, rent, trade, or share your name or contact information with anyone, for any purpose. Not with other nonprofits, not with mailing-list brokers, not with anyone. This isn't a policy we might change — it's a commitment we're making to every person who has ever given to this ministry, or ever will.

There are exactly two things that promise cannot cover, and we would rather name them than let you discover them later:

  • The bank or card processor that handles your gift. If we ever accept gifts by card, the company processing the payment necessarily receives your name and billing details, because that is how a payment works. They handle it for that transaction only. We will not give them permission to use it for their own marketing, and we will not send them anything they don't need.
  • A court order. If a court or a law with binding force requires us to produce a record, we have to comply. We would tell you if that ever happened, unless we were forbidden to.

Neither of those is a loophole for sharing your information with anyone who wants it. Outside those two, the answer is no — including to people who ask nicely, and including to other ministries.

What we collect about donors

When you give to Knights of the Higher Order Ministries — by check, in person, or by arrangement made through an email or phone call — we keep what we reasonably need to:

  • Say thank you and confirm we received your gift.
  • Keep the records a ministry should keep.
  • Reach you again about the ministry's work, if you haven't asked us not to.

That's typically your name, your contact information, and the amount and date of your gift. We don't collect information about you from any other source, and we don't buy donor lists or data about you from anyone.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell, rent, trade, or share your name, address, email, phone number, or giving history with any other organization, company, or individual.
  • We don't publish an individual donor's gift amount without asking you first.
  • We don't use tracking, analytics, or advertising tools on this website (see our Privacy Policy), so we don't have a profile of you built from your visits here.

Your choices

You're in control of what we hold about you:

  • Ask what we have. Call or email us and ask what information we have on file for you. We'll tell you.
  • Ask us to correct it. If something's wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
  • Ask to be removed from mailings. If you'd rather not hear from us, tell us and we'll stop contacting you. We'll keep only the minimal record needed to honor that request, plus anything the law requires us to keep about a completed gift.
  • Ask us to delete what we can. We'll delete anything we're not required to keep for recordkeeping or legal reasons.

None of this requires an account or a login — this site doesn't have those. A phone call or an email is enough.

Memorial and tribute gifts

If you give in memory or in honor of someone, we'll only share that with their family if you ask us to — and we'll never share the family's contact information as part of it.
